Continuing to be inspired by this year’s 20 Second Game Jam and especially those involved in its Discord Community, i’ve just posted a sizable update for Legend of Song.

A new audible Jump Count indicator was added to help navigate the skies:

• This is something i wanted since the amazing Quadruple Jump was solidified as part of the game but back-burnered while sorting other notions until i was reminded of it.
• As referenced in my response there, the pitch of your efforts increases with each leap and i’ve come to appreciate it during testing for this update and hope you will, too.

Speaking of navigation, i’ve also added Controller support which took a lot more effort to sort out than anticpated in delivering all Keyboard controls to the device while attempting to also depict it all appropriately:

• That said, while the new Option gives my fingers a much-needed break, i’ve yet to reach the same scoring range found while using the Keyboard where i’ve come to find precisely how crucial Descending is during play and struggled to find a natural way to trigger it on the Controller (hence, 3 different methods to pick from!).

• Credit to Xelu and Kenney for providing the graphics which i went on to mangle for hours until i was satisfied.

Another substantial addition is a new Ladder system for Online High Scores where you must beat your personal Best Score to become eligible for the online table that i’m internally calling the PSY’d Step™ system.

• The idea is for more eyes to fly the skies that only PSY & i have occupied for the past few nights (why, yes. i can rhyme when inspired) :)
• With this new system, i’ve purged all but the Top 2 from the table just now (which were all PSY & i as you’ll see in the vid below) while i want to immortalize what i believe are the first to crack the ellusive 20K mark including DTP who might have been the first for me to chase?

• Finally in this realm, i believe i’ve streamlined the online system on my end so scores update quicker. who has time to wait, afterall?!

Otherwise, only a few minor tweaks were made for this Update and i do want you to enjoy it all so please do when you have a minute or 2!
